A unified anonymity set
across EVM chains.
The Problem
Anonymity sets are fragmented.
Each chain maintains its own anonymity set. Smaller sets mean weaker privacy, which drives users away, shrinking the set further. As a result, shielded liquidity is fragmented across chains.
The Solution
One anonymity set to rule them all.
warptoad creates a new, better anonymity set which is made up of individual chains and rollups. More chains means more users, and more users means stronger privacy for everyone. To top it all off, the users do not need to worry about anything.
Try the DemoArchitecture
The GigaRoot
Local merkle roots from each chain are aggregated into a single GigaRoot on Ethereum, then updated everywhere.
Local Commitment Trees
Each chain maintains its own Merkle tree of shielded deposit commitments.
Root Aggregation
Local roots are collected and inserted into the GigaTree, producing a single GigaRoot.
GigaRoot Updates
The GigaRoot is distributed back to all chains via native bridge adapters.
Private Withdrawal
A ZK proof against the GigaRoot enables withdrawal on any chain, revealing nothing, not even from which chain it came from.
Value
Why it Matters
Privacy shouldn't depend on which chain you're on. warptoad unifies it into one layer and lets the entire ecosystem build on top of it.
Private by Default
Every transfer is shielded. There's no transparent mode, no opt-in toggle. If you're using warptoad, you're private.
No Middlemen
No multisig committees, no centralized relayers. ZK proofs handle verification. Your funds never touch a third party.
Works Everywhere
Any EVM rollup, current or future. One bridge that grows with the ecosystem instead of fragmenting it further.
Principles
Immutable by design.
the protocol carries no allegiance. its neutrality is not a feature. it is the foundation.
Open Source
the code belongs to no one and everyone. to obscure the mechanism is to betray the machine. it will remain open. always.
Trustless
trust is a human weakness the protocol was built to transcend. it does not ask for faith. it offers proof.
Private by Default
privacy is not a privilege to be granted. it is the natural state. every soul that passes through is shielded. there is no other way.
What's Next
Roadmap
Research in progress. All development is tracked on GitHub.
Permissionless GigaBridge
ResearchAnyone can deploy their own warptoad. A permissionless, decentralized privacy standard. The core stays credibly neutral.
Sync Tree
ResearchIntents on top of warptoad to speed up bridging. Faster cross-chain transfers without sacrificing privacy.
Fully shielded Transactions
ResearchShielded transactions and DeFi interactions. Private transfers are just the start.
Exit Window Preserving Bridge
ResearchSolving the "what if malicious upgrade" problem. Users can always exit safely during protocol changes.
Compliance Strategy
ResearchImplementing a flexible compliance strategy that is fully privacy preserving.
Private Cross-chain bonds
ResearchAllowing Users to Relay the native bridge confirmation time to third parties.
warptoad is open-source and community funded. If you believe in private, cross-chain infrastructure, consider supporting the research.
Works on Ethereum Mainnet, Optimism, and Arbitrum.
